miniature donkeys

Li'l Angels Miniature Donkey Farm is proud to present to you our  Herd Sires, and reference Herd Sires that we have sold and have retained breedings to. Each has been selected  primarily for their outstanding conformation, but there is so much more!

Red October

Red October is such a beautiful jack and he has great conformation, but it's his great personality that I love the most. He has such a desire to please and a willing attitude with lots of heart. He is always excited to see me and never misses an opportunity to visit. He is easy to handle and very quiet. Red October is trained to drive, but due to his small size we have never shown him in the cart. I am amazed  to see how well he retains his early training when we harness him up to go for a spin. He just loves to drive!

Red October won 1st Place Jacks  and  Model Donkey at the Heart of Texas Miniature Donkey Show in Corsicana, TX June 2003 at 20 mos. of age. At the National Miniature Donkey Association show in Corsicana, TX July, 2003  he won 1st Place Yearling Jacks. He also won 1st Place Jacks at the Texas State Fair in 2005 as a four year old, and Reserve Champion Jack. He won1st Place Jacks and Supreme Champion Sire at the Texas State Championship AND NMDA Get of Sire at the same show in May, 2006 at the age of five. These are the highest awards a herdsire can win considering that it is his offspring being shown, thereby proving his worth as a breeding animal. Again he won Get of Sire at the Texas State Championship show in 2007. Check out some of his offspring on my Nursery page, and look on my Jennets page for jennets bred to Red October.

Red October is Dark red in color and yes, he was born in October.

He is  30 1/2" tall. Pedigree available upon request.

758's Red Pride

The first time I saw Pride he was two weeks old, and I tried to buy him from Ida Bess.......then, when he was about a year old I saw him and tried again . At the age of two, she finally relented and let me bring him home.

In addition to his obvious good looks, Pride is a real gentleman and loves being around people. We are really impressed with his willingness and sweet, gentle nature. I clipped him just a few days after his arrival, and he seemed to enjoy the attention so much he didn't have much concern for the clippers at all, even though it was his first clip! .

Pride won  Champion Jack and Best of Breed at the 2008 San Antonio Stock Show. Being his first time out we expected him to be a little nervous, but he seemed to enjoy the whole thing!

We have no doubt Pride will bring some very strong genetics into our herd. Look for foals by him in 2008.

Red,  31 1/4" tall at the age of 3. Pedigree available upon request.

Li'l Angels Full Moon

ADMS National Champion

I knew the day this guy was born he would be a favorite with me. He was a long awaited dream come true, from our select breeding program where we had hoped to combine the outstanding performance qualities of Randy Travis with the halter qualities and overall balance we seek for our halter donkeys.

Everyday I look forward to visiting with Full Moon because of his wonderful personality, and working with him is an absolute dream. I have never worked with an animal so intelligent and willing...well, he is a jack, but he has such a great mind! If I can keep all that pointed in the right direction, he will no doubt be the most fun donkey I have ever worked with...in fact, he already is!

He has already proven himself in the show ring in both halter and performance by winning 1st place two year old jacks, and Junior Champion at the 2007 Texas State Championship show; 1st place two year old jacks, and ADMS National Champion Jack, 2007, and 1st place two year old jacks, and TAMU Model Champion Donkey. His Performance wins so far include Pre-Green Champion, San Antonio, 2007, TAMU 2007 Pre-Green Champion and State Fair of Texas Reserve Pre-Green Champion. Then he really outdid himself by winning Year-End Champion in Halter and Performance...just what he was bred to do!.

News Flash!!! Full Moon wins Reserve Pre-Green Champion at the NMDA National show, 2008, and wins Produce of Dam along with his brother Frontier Legends Pawnee, for him mom, Muriel's Fun Farm Blaze, and also wins Supreme Champion Sire, along with his two brothers, Li'l Angels Boston Mac, and Small Pleasure's Colonel Travis, for their dad, Cobra's Randy Travis!

Frontier Legends Augustus

He's cute, compact, has great legs, and exhibits qualities of a great  herdsire  we really want in our breeding program.

We have had our eye on Augustus for some time, but we really fell in love with him at the State Fair. Shortly after, we made a trip to Frontier Legends, and brought him home to our farm. We will add more photos as soon as we can do a photo session with him, and we look forward to a strong show career and future foals by this young man.

He has already proven himself in the show ring in both halter and performance by winning ADMS National Junior Champion  2007, and Junior Champion at the State Fair of Texas, 2007. (Shown by Koby Schooler)

News Flash!!! Augustus helps his dad, Short ASSets Starfire,  win Get of Sire, along with sister Frontier Legends Ruby Stone, and brother Frontier Legends Cimmeron at the NMDA National show, 2008!

Itsy Bitsy Burro Co. Mr. Playbill

Playbill is an exciting addition to our breeding program. His mother is a wonderful jennet who has produced excellent quality foals and show winners. Circle C Main Event is a multiple Model Champion and producer of excellent stock and show winners. This is truly a winning combination.  We have finally added current photos. Playbill has grown into a beautiful young man.

Playbill won 1st place Jacks at the GCDMA fall show, and Reserve Model Donkey. He also won 1st place Jacks and Reserve Model Donkey at the Ft. Worth Stock Show in Jan. 2006, at 1 1/2 years of age.

Check out his first foal, Confetti, on our  Nursery  page. So far we are very pleased with the offspring Playbill has given us, and hope for many more. Look for jennets bred to Playbill on our Jennets   page. News Flash, Playbill's two daughter's Li'l Angels Lacey Doll, and Li'l Angels Cover Girl win 1st and 2nd place weanling jennets at the NMDA Nationals Show, 2008. Lacey Doll goes on to win Reserve Junior Champion.

Li'l Angels Brave Heart

We are pleased to announce that Brave Heart will be going to a new home in Tennessee. He will be added to Wee Ones Farm as a herdsire for their spotted breeding program. We think they have made a very good choice, but he will surely be missed around here. Congratulations L.J. and Deb!

We have several jenents bred to Brave Heart, and will retain him here on our herdsire page.

Brave Heart began his show career by winning Reserve Junior Champion at the ADMS National show.He also won 2nd place behind his brother Crimson Tide at the San Antonio show in '07, in a very large class.

By the way, he is a maternal 1/2 brother to Li'l Angels Parker, below.

Li'l Angels Crimson Tide

For Reference

We have made the very difficult decision to part with this fine jack since he is related to so many of my jennets on both sides of his pedigree. He has been sold to John and Susan Baker of Small Pleasure Farm.

Crimson Tide already shows extreme promise as a breeding jack, and just began his career in the show ring, winning 1st place Yearling Jacks at San Antonio in 2007. He also won NMDA Junior Reserve Champion at the State Fair of Texas, 2007. Off to a great start! He has also helped his sire earn his Supreme Champion Sire Award, twice and placed 2nd (behind Full Moon) in the Yearling Jack Class at the 2007 Texas State Championship show.

We have been completely taken with Crimson Tide since his birth.  He will continue to be shown throughout the next couple of years, and will begin breeding in the spring of 2008.

Sire: Red October

Dam: 758's Solstice

Red, current height at 18 months of age, 31"

Cobra's Randy Travis - For Reference

This fine jack has been sold to John and Susan Baker of Small Pleasure Farm.

News Flash, Randy Travis wins Supreme Champion Sire at the NMDA National Show, 2008! The three offspring shown were Li'l Angels Full Moon, Li'l Angels Boston Mac, and Small Pleasures Colonel Travis!

Now there's a jack! This extremely powerful little guy came to our farm in 2004 after a long search for a spotted jack. We wanted good color, but strong genetics and great forward motion are characteristics that are not always found in combination with good color and overall good looks. We were pleased to find it all in one package. Randy Travis won ACOSA National Champion Jack in 2000, and has a long impressive show record. We are very impressed by the size of his bone and his great legs......but most of all the way he moves. He has incredible forward motion and reach.  We hoped he would produce excellent driving prospects without sacrificing overall beauty and great halter conformation, and that is exactly what he has done for us. We have retained his son Full Moon in our breeding program, and have now sold Randy to  John and Susan Baker of Small Pleasure Farm. Contact them for more information ragarding jennets bred to Randy, and look for a couple of his foals  now and then on our farm, since we have retained breedings to him.

Randy Travis is Brown and White. He stands 33" tall.

Sire: Cobra's Chico

Dam: Cobra's Texas Sue

Li'l Angels Galaxy - For Reference

Future Herdsire

Update!!!! Galaxy has been purchased by John and Susan Baker of Small Pleasure Farm, and has now moved to his new home. We have retained breedings to Galaxy, and hope to have some outstanding and beautiful sons and daughters sired by him in the future.

Four Months Old in Photos (with Li'l Angels Bella Mia)

We will update Galaxy's photos as he matures. Needless to say, we are very excited about this little cutie. He is very small, Black with cross, extremely correct and has the most adorable head you ever saw! He looks like a little Arabian  horse....with long ears!

When we bought 1/2 Teaspoon it was for the purpose of breeding to our Jazzy daughters. Blue Print was our first foal from this cross, and Galaxy is our second. What an outstanding combination!

Galaxy was 20" at birth, and has shown great promise from the beginning. We hope he will continue to grow into a beautiful young man.

Sire: 1/2 Teaspoon

Dam: Li'l Angels Star of Hope, sired by Ozark Jazzy Jamm

Li'l Angels Parker - For Reference

Parker has been purchased by John and Susan Baker of Small Pleasures Farm ......We have retained breedings to him, and are listing him as a reference herdsire.

   2 Years old in photo

What can I say about this beautiful boy...I just love him! He is just as sweet as a jack can be and wonderful to be around. Most importantly, though, he is just gorgeous with great conformation. At one year of age he was already built like a mature jack, and just look at him now!

Parker sports an impressive pedigree with names like Little Motown, Valentino 50, LN Nehi and Jennie Sam of Bell E Acres.

We have been watching this boy with great care hoping he would be a strong addition to our breeding program, and he just gets better every day. As it turns out, the Bakers could not resist adding him to their breeding program. We have retained breedings to Parker, so look for foals by him in 2007 from our farm as well as from Small Pleasures Farm.

Parker won 1st Place yearling jacks at his first show, the Texas State Fair and Jr. Champion Miniature Donkey. He went on to place 3rd at the NMDA show in Shelbyville in 2006, and 3rd at the NMDA Texas State Championship show in 2006.
